Christianity Isn’t Safe…. (Mini-Blog #12)

fear notThe Kingdom of God isn’t about safety.

The Kingdom of God isn’t about comfort.

What if Christ only loved/loves when He felt/feels safe? When He felt/feels comfortable?

Christ is the God of vulnerability, which is a prerequisite for love.

Safety and comfort are modern words foreign to the Biblical text and life of a Christian regardless of one’s place and time in history.

There’s is nothing safe and comfortable about vulnerability!

There’s nothing safe and comfortable about love!

There’s nothing safe and comfortable about enemy love!

There’s nothing safe and comfortable about love for one’s neighbor!

There’s nothing safe and comfortable about Crucifixion!

There’s nothing safe and comfortable in co-crucifixion with Jesus!

There’s nothing safe and comfortable in “Pick up your cross and follow Me!”

As Jon Foreman of Switchfoot once said, “There’s only two ways out of these world and neither of them are safe!”
